Benedict Anderson

Benedict Anderson was an Anglo-Irish political scientist, historian, and professor at Cornell University. He is best known for his 1983 book Imagined Communities, which examined the origins of nationalism. A polyglot with a focus on Southeast Asia, Anderson also authored the Cornell Paper, a critical analysis of the 1965–1966 anti-Communist purges in Indonesia that resulted in his expulsion from the country.
