Carolyn Chute

Carolyn Chute is an American novelist and political activist known for her focus on the culture of poor, rural western Maine. Her writing explores the lives of those in the Yankee backwoods, reflecting her own experiences living an unorthodox lifestyle. She is a recipient of the PEN New England Award.
