Joan Mitchell

Joan Mitchell was an American artist known for her work in painting, printmaking, and pastel. A native of Chicago, she was a prominent participant in the New York School during the 1950s and is closely associated with the abstract expressionist movement. Although she spent much of her career living in France, her influence remains central to the history of American abstract art.
