Joseph Stalin

Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was a Soviet politician, revolutionary, and political theorist who led the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953. He served as General Secretary of the Communist Party from 1922 to 1952 and as Premier from 1941 to 1953. Ideologically committed to the Leninist interpretation of Marxism, he helped formalize the framework of Marxism–Leninism, while his own governing policies became known as Stalinism.
