Martin Ramirez

Martín Ramírez was a Mexican artist who spent much of his adult life institutionalized in California mental hospitals. A self-taught painter and draftsperson, he produced a significant body of work while diagnosed with catatonic schizophrenia. Today, he is recognized by many as one of the preeminent self-taught masters of the 20th century.
