Patrick O'Brian

Patrick O'Brian was an English novelist and translator best known for his twenty-volume Aubrey–Maturin series. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, these historical novels follow the friendship between naval captain Jack Aubrey and physician Stephen Maturin. His work is recognized for its detailed research into early 19th-century life and its authentic use of period language. A final, unfinished installment of the series was published posthumously.
