Richard K. Root

Richard K. Root (1937–2006) was an American physician and internist who held leadership roles as the chairman of medicine at Yale University, the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Washington. In 1971, he established the Infectious Disease division at the University of Pennsylvania while serving as a professor. His career was defined by his significant contributions to internal medicine and infectious disease education.
