Robert Alter

Robert Alter is an American professor emeritus of Hebrew and comparative literature at the University of California, Berkeley, where he has taught since 1967. A scholar of the Bible as literature, he has published two dozen books throughout his career. His notable works include a comprehensive translation of the Hebrew Bible, a project that spanned twenty-four years and was published in 2018.
