Robert Colescott
Robert Colescott (1925–2009) was an American painter who studied under Fernand Léger in Paris. His work is characterized by satirical genre and crowd subjects that reflect on the African American experience through exuberant, comical, or bitter lenses. His paintings are held in numerous major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
